Unity vs Control

Psalm 133:1  How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! I have control issues. To people that know me this comes as no surprise. I like to blame this condition on my years as a teacher or principal where the need for organization and structure were prudent, but truly it's a sin. It's due to a lack of faith that God is in control. God tells us how pleased He is when we live in unity, but it's tough to get along when we think our ways are the only ways that are best.  That's the struggle I have, I want to do what's best, but how do I know what God has planned for the lives of others? What would create more unity in my life and those I share life with, is if I did all things in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, caring, self-control, and gentleness, then left the rest up to God. I must keep reminding myself to "Let Go, Let God," be in control.

Forgiveness

Psalm 130- 3  If you,  Lord , kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? 4  But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. What does forgiveness mean to you? To me, it means life eternal. If I don't accept Christ's gracious gift of forgiveness through His death and resurrection then my only hope is in this world in this present life. For many who are suffering today, they choose to take their own lives essentially believing death is the end. But death is just the beginning of living. God has a better world, heaven, waiting for all who believe in His Son Jesus Christ. Loss of hope often comes from grief, regret, guilt, or unforgiveness of self or others. Christ's death covers ALL our sins, for those who have claimed Christ as their Savior and Lord, not just a select few. Don't fall into the devil's trap believing you have created the one sin that can't be forgiven, somehow you managed to do the one terrible, horrible thin...

Saving with Coupons

I love a good coupon! My friends know that most of the time I'll have a coupon handy for lunch or shopping. There's a new trend though in coupons that is a bit disheartening for me…electronic coupons. I suppose for the tech-savvy it is more convenient, but for people like me, I like to clip the coupons from the paper. Maybe it reminds me of making paper dolls with my grandmother, I really don't know, but sitting down on a Sunday clipping coupons is comforting to me.      The question from my friends, "Are you really saving money or just wasting time?" I guess it depends on which of the two, money or time, you have more of as to whether coupons will work for you or not. If you have lots of money, why bother, but if you have limited money and lots of time, why not?      In the end, time nor money will make a bit of difference when it comes to entering the gates of heaven. But saving will be of uppermost importance, because to get into he...

Diddle Away the Days

I diddle away a lot of time. Rarely is it purposeful, rather I'm indecisive about the "best" way to do something, so I spend an inordinate amount of time researching, deliberating, and checking out how others have done it, what others think about it, and what my husband would want to do about it. By that time, I'm so over "it" that I do nothing at all! The missing ingredient in "it" is prayer and meditation on God's Word. I don't want to "bother" God about the little things so I labor over them until they become big! "Doing" without God's direction can become a time wasting snare.      My true desire is to take everything to the Lord and allow Him to sift through the daily debris and help me focus on only that which will glorify Him and benefit others eternally. This choice will take intentionally and consistently giving over of my desires and asking the Holy Spirit to fill me with the desires of the Lord whi...

VIP or Waiting List

What are the times telling us? Are the wars, deadly diseases, and widespread famines signs of Jesus' second coming? If so, when He calls His own to heaven will you be on the VIP list or the waiting list? Don't wait, call out to Him today and tell Him you believe He is the only Son of God, who came to die on the cross for your sins, rise again three days later, and is now at the right hand of God, the Creator of the Universe.      Jesus Christ will not reject you because of ANY dark secrets or terrible things you have done, except one…rejecting Him. His blood was shed, because a sacrifice for sin had to be made, and frankly you and I weren't good enough to save ourselves and never will be. Rest in God's grace, give yourself and your old ways over to Jesus Christ tonight, this minute, and He will forgive you and write your name on the VIP list called the Book of Life. John 3:16  For God so loved  the world that he gave  his one and only...
