Arguing

I was watching the news with my husband at lunch today and I just wanted to scream, "Quit arguing!" Our politicians are spending so much time on petty infighting that I can't imagine they have much time for the people of our nation they are supposed to represent. Rather than worry about how they might get elected again, how about doing the job they were initially elected to do?     Let's apply the motto of many schools, "Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do." Some of you may say, "Well, what is the right thing?" I believe we all have a conscience that will tell us what is right, if we are willing to listen to it. Should I steal? No. Should I harm others? No. Should I break the law? No. Should I give to those in need? Yes. Should I help those who are hurting? Yes. Should I abide by the laws of the land? Yes.      It's time we take back responsibility for helping govern our own nation by abiding by the laws and rules alre...

Not Forgotten by Father God

Recently, it was reported in on our local television news that a transient man had been murdered in the woods and they were attempting to gather more information from the public about this man or the incident. During our recent trips to my husband's radiation treatments, we had seen other men with signs asking for food or money in the area where this man used to beg.      I began wondering about this man and who he belonged to; who had loved him. Had the path been his alone to choose or had circumstances and events in his life driven him into hiding from life and it's responsibilities.      Regardless of our choices, Father God loves us and not just as cute little babies, but even as grown up sinners. He doesn't see our filthy clothes or hear our...

Not Wanting Anyone to Perish

Everyone has seasons of ill health, trials and tribulations. Recently, my husband was diagnosed with cancer and had his first radiation treatment today. My father (83 years old) fell on Monday taking out the trash and skinned up his face and possibly broke his wrist. I have heard of all kinds of trials and troubles endured by family and friends lately. In our gated community a month ago, a person on the run from police drove through our large metal security gates going at speeds of 100 mph. The national news recounts chaos and violence in our country and others on a daily basis.      It makes me think of what my grandson asked lately, "Is God still alive?" It may make you wonder at times, but the Bible is clear on one point, even when we don't want to accept it, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world," (John 16:33) Jesus stated that, "you will have ...
