Door of Heaven

After our Beth Moore study on James today some of the ladies from my table stayed and talked about the idea of Adam's seed within us. They wondered how they could make godly choices in their lives if they were sinners. We discussed that once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, He sends His Holy Spirit within us to guide, comfort and assist us in our daily lives. (That doesn't mean as Christians we can't ignore the Spirit's guidance and make sinful decisions.) They had gone to church for many years, but still did not understand how to get the Holy Spirit to dwell within them.
I talked them through what is called, "The Sinner's Prayer," and explained that knowing Christ Jesus is different from being in a relationship with Him. We all know a lot of people, these people may even come to the door of our homes and knock, but if we don't open the door and invite them in, we will remain strangers with no relationship to one another. The Bible tells us that many will come to the Lord saying they know Him and He will reply that He knows them not. I explained that knowing God and Christ Jesus and being known by God and Christ Jesus are not the same thing. After we ask Jesus Christ into our lives, we need to be in the Word (Bible), studying, praying and spending time with other believers so we can get to "know" the character of God. That's when we'll learn to trust God with our lives, and walk in obedience to His direction. That is also when we'll be able to "hear" the direction of the Holy Spirit in our hearts.
Don't be left at the door of heaven, cast out as a stranger, speak and believe in your heart this simple prayer and your name will be written in the Lamb's Book of Life tonight! "Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I know You are the Son of God and sent to die on the cross for my sins. I know you died and rose again overcoming death so that I could live through eternity with You. Please forgive me of my sins, come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Amen."
If you prayed that prayer in full belief that it is true, you have been "born again" into the family of God, "saved" from an eternity spent in hell. Praise God! Get a Bible (or read it on the Internet), find a Bible believing church family and begin your walk with your new best friend, Jesus Christ. He, unlike some human friends, will never leave you nor forsake you. Let me be the first one to welcome you into the Royal Family of God. Blessings in your walk and new journey. KT
A door into a church in Spain.
Luke 13:22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”
He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’
“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’
26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’
27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’
28 “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. 29 People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. 30 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”
