False Humility

Recently I was reading how Christians can be guilty of "false humility." This "false humility" is demonstrated when we put ourselves down when we've done something noteworthy or other praise our skills and talents. That idea struck me between the eyes! I can always find things that are faults in myself, but rarely appreciate the God-given gifts I have been given.
I received an email from a friend who just recently started a blog. In her blog, she noted that she had few skills, "I don't have a lot of talents or gifts but what I do have, I'd like to use." I chastised her in a follow-up email about this comment and noted, "...don't down play yourself and your gifts...it shows ungratefulness toward God and all He's blessed you with which is numerous skills and talents. Sorry to be so stern, but you don't want the devil to get a foothold and that kind of speech (which I do as well out of false humility) speaks negatively to your own brain as well as others. I'm saying this to both of us, so keep me accountable to it as well. It's not up to us to judge God's creations, including ourselves! (Wow, I wish I could remember that one:)."
All that came to mind after I sent that email reply was a discussion I had with my husband about my faults yesterday and my husband's reply of, "I think you are too hard on yourself." I replied, "Yes, but I have a lot I can work on." This was a perfect case of false humility! Enough had been said and yet I was fishing for more support and kudos (if not consciously, subconsciously).
My friend Helen sent the script below and it's such a good reminder of what we really need to do each day...imitate God, love, get up, rise and shine for Christ, sing and make music...always give thanks...even in our faults, that God can use what we lay down to lift Himself up. KT
Is it for us to tell the Creator that we don't like His handy work? (Sunset on Pacific)

"Be imitators of God...live a life of love...wake up sleeper...rise from the dead & Christ will shine on you...sing & make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks..." Eph 5  Live, Rise, Shine, Sing, Praise God the Father for everything, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
God Bless You, Helen
