Good Enough
When I was a teacher and a student would come up to me with his/her project and say, "Is this good enough?" I would ask in return, "What do you think?" Most replied, "Yes." In his book, Good to Great, Jim Collins writes on page 1, "Good is the enemy of great...Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life." In his book, Collins and his team try to identify the qualities that make up good companies and great companies. He responds on page 11 with the following, "Greatness, it turns out, is largely a matter of conscious choice."
Max Lucado in his book, Six Hours One Friday, on pages 48-49 notes, "How many congregations have just enough religion to come together, but not enough passion to go out?...A little bit of faith but very little fire...Good people. Lots of ideas. Plenty of good intentions." My previous boss, Rick Miller CEO of Kids at Hope echoed this point in his presentations to educators and people who worked with kids, "Having good intentions and being intentional in our actions makes all the difference."
Is your walk, my walk, with God good enough or is it great? The difference? We are either intentional in our relationship with the Lord or we are not. We either read and study God's Word, pray to Him and spend time listening for His Holy Spirit's still small voice to answer us or we do not. I'm afraid when I look at my own life and the time I put into building a relationship with God and getting to know Him personally, it is simply not good enough. KT

I wonder if the artists at the Vatican asked, "Is this good enough?" It didn't look like it by what we saw, it looked like they worked with passion.
Matt 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
