Gifts of the Spirit
Today as I prepared to go to Women's Bible study at our church, I was reminded that one of the ladies in our group was baptized on Sunday. She had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord two weeks prior, but wanted to go forward in baptism as an outward confession of her inward decision for Christ. I quickly copied off an informational sheet of the next steps for new Christians.
After our study today, she told me that she thought the baptism would make her "feel" different, but in fact the two days after she invited Christ into her life were the most life changing. She said she cried for two days. I talked to her about baptism and the need for Christians to call on the Holy Spirit in prayer to show us our God-given gifts.
The Gifts of the Spirit noted in I Corinthians 12 are as follows: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in tongues and interpreting tongues. As a believer, the Gifts of the Spirit are to be used as a blessing for God, others and us. With these Gifts that God has given us we are to be fruitful for God's kingdom and in the blessing of others, we will be blessed.
Dr. Charles Stanley has a several part UTube series on The Gifts of the Spirit. Just Google "Charles Stanley Gifts of the Spirit." I Corinthians 12:4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

Edible gifts from God are wonderful, but seek His Spiritual Gifts for true satisfaction.

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
