Your Rudder
My friend, Helen, sent her daily script today and it was on not letting Satan tempt us and obeying God. She used a phrase that I really liked, "Don't let the devil lead and deceive you into thinking you have nothing to lose." Isn't that powerful! God has blessed me with so much and yet I can get caught up on gaining a few extra pounds and I begin thinking I'm hopeless in the weight loss department. That is not godly thinking, that is defeated thinking.
The Bible talks about our tongue being the rudder for our body. One of the smallest parts of our body and yet the tongue by what it takes in (food/drink/drugs/etc.) and what it puts out (words foolish/wise) guides our ships, directs our paths, even shapes our futures. If we are Christians that have put our lives into the hands of Christ, the Holy Spirit should be our rudder, but often we cave to the flesh, the world and Satan and allow our tongue to guide our walk and our talk.

Tiny tugboats guide enormous ships through parts of the Panama Canal.
James 3: 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
