Peace, peace!

     People today are seeking peace whether in their divided homes, from violence in their communities, wars in their nations, or simply a place to rest that is without stress. Few of us find that peace here on earth. The Lord tells us in Isaiah 48:22 "There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked." The answer to this is for each person to apply Psalm 34:14 to their lives, "Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." I am part of the problem. We are each personally responsible for keeping the peace.
     If we will be peace seekers, the Lord will bless us as noted in Proverbs:
12:20-Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.
14:30-A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
16:7-When the LORD takes pleasure in anyone's way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them.
17:1-Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.
Our dog, who had surgery recently and has to be tethered to the kitchen table, seems quite at peace.
Jeremiah 12: 12-15~"And their houses shall be turned over to others,
Fields and wives together;
For I will stretch out My hand
Against the inhabitants of the land,” says the Lord.
“Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them,
Everyone is given to covetousness;
And from the prophet even to the priest,
Everyone deals falsely.
They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly,
Saying, ‘Peace, peace!’
When there is no peace.
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination?
No! They were not at all ashamed;
Nor did they know how to blush.
Therefore they shall fall among those who fall;
At the time I punish them,
They shall be cast down,” says the Lord.
