Questioning God
A woman joined our table on Tuesday for Bible study. She had brain surgery for a tumor a number of years ago that kept her from returning to work as a teacher. She has had many complications and issues as a result over the years and yet she remains dedicated to God and hopeful about life. She noted that one time when she asked God, "Why do I have to go through all this?" she felt God said, "Why not you?" She communicated this "conversation" with contentment that God does not favor anyone and for her this experience has made her stronger in her faith. It has also given her a testimony to share with others. A way to be relatable with other and help guide them to God who has cared for her.
Job, of course, in the Bible had many reasons to ask God, "Why?" and yet he remained faithful. Another man in our Wednesday night Bible group shared that a neighbor had told him that he didn't believe that a loving God would send people to hell. The man wasn't sure what to say to his neighbor, but I knew. I knew because in my life I've made a lot of bad choices and each has had consequences whether small or larger or short or long term. God is a God of choice. He doesn't force us to choose Him. He presented His Son as a living sacrifice for all our sins. Those who believe, ask forgiveness for their sins and choose Christ Jesus as their savior will go to heaven. It's that simple!
So either tell Jesus Christ that you want to be in His family and live according to His Father's "house rules" (The Bible) and submit to His authority over your life or don't and God will remove His hand of protection from your life and allow you to live the way you want to live without Him. It's heaven for eternity or hell, and it's totally your choice because God is gracious and merciful and willing to forgiven all of us our sins, if we are willing to ask Him.
This hummingbird came up to our window and wanted in. But of course, I knew he didn't belong in our home, he needed to stay outside.
Job 38:1 Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said:
2 “Who is this that obscures my plans
with words without knowledge?
3 Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.
with words without knowledge?
3 Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.
4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone —
7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?
Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone —
7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?
