Interruptions or Blessings?
This morning I awoke at 4:44 (don't you love digital clocks:). I decided I'd get up and see what the Lord had in mind for today. After greeting my husband and dog, I brewed a cup of coffee and sat out on the patio listening to the birds. I was trying to pray, but one bird was carrying on a bit much, then my husband came out to chat. Normally, both would seem like interruptions in my time with God, but I sensed I just needed to relax and enjoy the time with nature and especially with my precious man.
Later, I was reading a story in Chicken Soup for the Christian Woman's Soul and author, Nancy B. Gibbs talked about the exact thing! To the point of slipping outside and a bird sang and interrupted her prayer time and then her husband popped out to say he loved her! She noted that these "interruptions" were God's attempt to bless her and were not interruptions at all.
Next, I decided to listen to Our Daily Bread http://odb.org/ for today on-line and it too mentioned a woman being interrupted by her husband bringing her a cup of coffee while she worked on her computer and a friend calling. Her article noted that these were moments she didn't want to "tune out." She suggested that we may have a tendency to "tune out" the Holy Spirit when He "interrupts" our day.

My patio prayer place:)
John 14:25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
