Remain Calm and Carry On
You'll see this saying or ones similar to it on posters, shirts, etc. these days. Today, in my morning reading of God Calling, published in 1978 by two anonymous British women, the reminder is essentially the same, "Calm is trust in action. Only trust, perfect trust (in God) can keep one calm." The Bible says it another way, "Be still, know that I am God" (Ps. 46:10).
The nice thing about remembering that He is God and you are not, is that you KNOW you are not in control and thus can remain calm in the storms of life. It's when I want to control everything that it all seems to fall apart and I lose my calm, peace, patience and joy. I will "lose my cool," "come unraveled," "fall apart," "have a meltdown," or just plain "lose it!" But all that being said, if I truly trust in the omnipotence and power of God, then I should have nothing to lose, including my temper.

Just chillin' without a care in the world:)
Proverbs 15:18
A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.

It is so true that if we will just stop and remember who is in control it takes away a huge burden we are not meant to carry.
ReplyDeleteThis really spoke to me. As you know, I've always wanted that peaceful and quiet spirit I've seen in Godly women, especially you, and even though I may have it for a moment...I take my eyes off the Lord and like Peter...start sinking. Thanks for encouraging me to not stop trying. I want to have that picture of your grandson stay...
