To Be or To Flee...

That really is the question when it comes to my home. Some days I just want to escape and flee the debris and other days when I've gotten things cleaned up and organized, it's just the place I want to be. This question of "Would you rather 'be' in or 'flee' your home?" was brought up by Sherry, our hospitality speaker at our conference on Saturday. I had to laugh to myself, as I could totally relate when she mentioned that "you may go shopping or anywhere but home," if your home is not the "haven" you'd like it to be.
Sherry also noted that "hospitality begins at home with our families." Although, I've heard this before, I'm not sure I absorbed it. Thinking about treating my husband as a guest in our home and making it a place of respite for him, just hadn't sunk into my mind. As a Christian woman, I'm reminded that I'm held to a different standard for my home by God. I must shake off the worldly view and put on a new woman in Christ who can be exemplified in Titus 2 and Proverbs 31 scriptures.
So Sherry had the following mnemonic devise to assist us ladies in getting each day off to the right start in creating our little nests that our husbands, family members and we would enjoy settling into called the 3 D's and 3 B's. She suggested it is best if these items were addressed by 9:00AM each day, then we can get on with our days, come what may:

  • Dinner-Have a plan for what you'll eat tonight.
  • Dressed-Get out of your PJ's and get dressed.
  • Dishes-Clean up all the dishes and put them away.
  • Bed-Make it!
  • Bath-Make sure the bathroom is cleaned up in case of surprise guests.
  • Bible-(Our pastor's wife added this one to her list)-Get it out, study and pray.

Found this momma dove this morning nesting in my front porch decorations.
She's made her nest in a safe haven:)
Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
