Son of God

On Sunday our youth pastor spoke about who people say Jesus is. He read out of Mark. I had never noticed the theme that is developed in Mark regarding the identity of Jesus. It is the religious leaders and apostles verses the demons and Jesus and guess which side has the biggest impact? Read through this book and you'll see where the high priest is questioning Jesus and doesn't believe his answer of being the "Son of Man," while at the same time Peter, one of the apostles, is outside denying knowing Jesus.
But in several other chapters of the book, the demons, evil spirits and legions of demons are shouting out, "I know who you are--the Holy One of God," (Mark 1:24) "impure spirits...cried out, 'You are the Son of God," (Mark 3:11) and another impure spirit in a man yells at Jesus, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” (Mark 5:7)
Most importantly, Jesus says in Mark 2:10, "But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins." So when we are tempted by impure spirits, we have power over them, not because of who we are, but who Jesus is, "Son of the Most High God," and even the demons know who He is and fear Him.
Religious leaders and apostles, even Christian friends and family members, may disappoint us, say or do mean things to us thus make us question who Jesus is. The final word comes from God, "Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” (Mark 9:7)

Mark 14:60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
