This is Not our Home

Looking at photos of the NASA crew's excitement over their rover, Curiosity, landing on Mars, made me ponder what our reactions will be one day when we leave this earth and join our Lord in Heaven. We won't be going to a dirty, dusty wasteland like Mars. We'll be going to a paradise full of precious gems, pearls, and gold. I imagine their will be amazing vineyards, fields of the finest crops, rivers flowing with crystal clear water, wild beasts frolicking with their young and light so bright, that there will not be a shadow of darkness anywhere, at any time.
The Bible gives us a glimpse of heaven, but only a wink, as we are not to desire the place, but the Creator of the heavens. While on this earth, our hearts desire should be to do all that we can to build and maintain our relationship with the Lord of Lords, Father God and Holy Spirit, our triune God. So that once our soul gets a small breath of heaven, we will chose to live other worldly and not of this world.
Yes, that may make us outcasts, since we will love those that others deem unlovable, choose friends that others ostracize, and speak truths that cannot be understood by those who have not called the Lord Jesus their Savior and Redeemer. But we know that God sees only the souls of the ones He has created, no outward distractions get in His way. We too should ask God to show us how to see people the way He sees them and then act according to His calling. Then we can rest in Him and live for the peace that will one day be our own, away from the dirt, dust, rust, and decay of Earth or even Mars, in our home...Heaven.
The Oregon Coast feels like a little bit of heaven to me, even when it storms.
Philippians 3:19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
