Simply Socks

Today I received a flyer from our local Phoenix Rescue Mission asking for donations of new pairs of socks from men, women and children. They noted how many homeless people suffer from foot problems due to spending so much time on their feet and not having proper coverings and healthcare for their feet. They needed their donations to be turned in by September 7th for the Hanes Company to match their collection package for package!
So I sent out an email to friends and asked them to join me in collecting 60 pairs of new socks in honor of my parent's 60th Wedding Anniversary which is September 7. If you have a homeless shelter in your area, maybe they too could get in on the sock matching by Hanes. In any case, I'm sure you have plenty of people in your community, even church, who could use a nice new pair of socks, (actually new underwear are often in great need as well). Let's help others start out this fall with clean socks and maybe just a little more hope knowing others care enough to think about their needs.
I know in our area, dogs suffer paw problems as well due to the high temperatures on the streets.

1 John 3:17

New International Version (NIV)
17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
