Graphic Ads

     We sat down to watch the news tonight and horrible graphic television advertisements came on showing terrible violence toward women. It made me queasy. It was 6:39PM, just when many families have the televisions on while eating dinner. What must these types of violent, visual images do to the tender hearts, minds, and souls of our children?

     Habakkuk, the prophet had similar concerns in Old Testament times, see Habakkuk 1:2-4 below. I look forward to the day of the Lord, when evil will be dispelled and God's justice will reign.(Rev. 19:2)

How long, O Lord, must I call for help,

    but you do not listen?

Or cry out to you, “Violence!”

    but you do not save?

 

Why do you make me look at injustice?

    Why do you tolerate wrong?

Destruction and violence are before me;

    there is strife, and conflict abounds.

 

Therefore the law is paralyzed,

    and justice never prevails.

The wicked hem in the righteous,

    so that justice is perverted.
