Battle for our Minds
We've had series of senseless killings lately that have made big headlines. The bottom-line for the majority of them are feelings of rejection, discontent, greed, and envy. With all the sadness in this world, it is sometimes difficult to focus on God's goodness. Satan would love for us to feel disgruntled and disillusioned because then our focus would be on ourselves, which in our imperfect bodies and minds, could only lead to self-idolatry. This self-idolatry toys with our minds telling us we are the center of the universe and no one should tread on our well being or be better off than us!
The battle of the mind is a tenuous minefield. If we step too far into the recesses of our own feelings, we can become embedded in a mire of depression and despair. God tells us in Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." God also tells us how to renew our minds in 2 Corinthians 10:5 "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
The battle for our minds is clearly a target for Satan (as demonstrated by various media avenues) so we need to stand against his influence on our lives by not conforming to the pattern of this world, being transformed by the renewing of our minds, and taking captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
If the struggle for your mind seems to be taking a wrong turn, turn to Jesus Christ and call on Him to forgive you for your depravity and waywardness. Ask Him to come into your life and make you a new person in Him. Thank Him for dying on the cross for all the world's sin, including your own, and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior. He will then gladly give you wisdom and knowledge that is eternal and godly, rather than temporary and worldly.

I studied holding every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. As with all spiritual growth, only The Lord can help me do this. I'm grateful He made it a desire. Thank you for blogging this.
