Choice is the Key

You have a choice. We all do, at any given moment, we have lots of choices. Some are easy, and some are more difficult. Some cause us to feel joy, others cause us to freeze up with indecision. I found the following dialogue from the book, Cross Roads, by Wm. Paul Young on page 206-207, interesting. The main character is talking with Jesus who has asked him to chose a key, of which he has no idea what it is for or when he'll need to use it.
Tony hesitated, "You want me to choose just one key? What if I choose the wrong one?"
"The one you choose will be the right one, Tony," encouraged Jesus.
"But…" Tony stalled. "Why don't you choose for me? You are divine and all, so you would know better than I do."
Jesus smiled, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes only adding to their brilliance. "This is about participation, Tony, not about puppeteering."
"So, you…trust me with this choice?"
"Absolutely!" Both [Jesus and the Holy Spirit who was standing near by] nodded.
Although this is a fictional account the principal is the same, God is a God of choice. He loves us too much to force himself upon us. He doesn't want puppets, he wants disciples. He wants us to want him, and love him remembering what he did for us, before we loved him or chose him. Choice is the key to love. Love requires a choice, what choice will you make?
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

  1. Seeking His righteousness....that's a choice like you said. I have a choice to get upset, to lash out at a person in anger, to wear or look a certain way which would make living like a Christian seem hypocritical. God gives us a choice to do good or wrong. We need to choose His Righteousness....pray we can....love you Kate
