God's Formula for Success

There have been hundreds of books written on how to be successful in this world. But as I read scriptures this morning it occurred to me that God's formula is much different than the world's formula for success. Psalm 37 was all about not fretting, refraining from anger, being still, and waiting patiently on the LORD. Isaiah 7:9 noted, "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." Deuteronomy 33:12 exclaimed, "Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders." Lastly, Psalm 105 referred to shouts of joy, rejoicing, observing his law, and praising His name.
In these readings and others in the Word of God the formula for the success of a believer in Jesus Christ is to "pray, praise, and obey which equals joy and peace." Not joy and peace without trials and tribulations, but as we pray, praise, and obey God brings us peace and joy in the midst of our earthly cares and concerns. This kind of peace and joy cannot be found without the Holy Spirit within us and we cannot have the Holy Spirit of God within us, until we accept God's Son, Jesus Christ, as the one God sent to be sacrificed for our sins and all the sins of the world. Then we must ask forgiveness for our sins, and choose the only way to heaven, Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
"Shalom" will then truly occur in our lives, the peace sought by all the world, when the world accepts Jesus Christ as the one true Messiah who came to seek and save the lost. Follow God's equation and not the emotions of the flesh and the cries of the world to do what is best for you. Seeking your best is not God's best for you. Jesus Christ came as a servant with his heart set on the eternal salvation of others, that none should be lost. Our joy and peace will be complete when we set our hearts on serving God through prayer, praise, and obedience to His Word and ways.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
