Damage from the Storm

Psalm 135:7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth;
he sends lightning with the rain
and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

We were traveling across the plains of Nebraska when dark clouds began to form across the sky. We had checked the weather report and it noted no thunderstorms until evening, so we thought we'd be safe to travel. After a stop for lunch, we headed back out on the highway and out of these ominous rain clouds came hurling ice balls of hail the size of marbles. We searched the area for a place to take cover, but there was none. So we pulled off to the side of the road and waited as our truck took a beating.
Once the hail turned to rain we got back on the road. We stopped at a gas station to assess the damage. Our truck endured several dents where the hail hit hard and left its mark. My husband noted that we need not worry about the damage as we had several days left on our vacation and couldn't do any things about the dings in our vehicle at the time.
The Lord does send storms into our lives. We sometimes get hurt and feel dented and dinged. But take heart as the Lord has overcome this world and even in the storms of life He is there to uphold us, protect us, and get us back onto the road of life. Our protection comes from the One who not only brings the storms, but sees us through them.
