Peace and Prosperity

Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my teaching,

but keep my commands in your heart,
² for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.

³ Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
⁴ Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.

     Peace and prosperity seem to be what most humans on this great earth are seeking in one form or another, yet many look to other people rather than to God to fulfill these desires. We seem to be driven as a society to be at peace with others even if it means forgoing our own beliefs and morals to do so. We strive to be "politically correct" at the cost of our own Christian understandings due to fear of losing face with others, being thought of as intolerant, being accused of being a "hater," or whatever other label that is okay to put on us as long as we have beliefs other than the worlds.

     We must remember that our peace and prosperity comes from the Lord and we gain this through writing His commands on the tablets of our hearts. We are to know His teachings so well that the we will stop being world pleasers and rest in knowing that "all good and perfect gifts come from above."
