Jesus Fights for You
We are in our last week of the Beth Moore study, Children of the Day. As I read this section it reminded me that God goes before me and fights for me against the acts of the devil. I've typed a few excerpts here from page 206 of the workbook. I hope you find them encouraging as you struggle with your own daily battles.
At times we may wonder if the oppression we're sensing is a figment of our imaginations or if our feelings of warfare are just forms of religious psychosis…
From Eugene Peterson's translation of Eph. 6:10-13:
God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we'll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet.
Beth continued…There's one enormous reason why we can have complete peace in the midst of an invisible war that results in such visible carnage. The reason is captured in black and white in all four of these verses:
Deuteronomy 1:30~The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you...
Deuteronomy 3:22~Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you.
Deuteronomy 20:4~For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.
Joshua 23:10~One of you routs a thousand because the LORD your God fights for you, just as he promised. 11 So be very careful to love the LORD your God.
(Jesus) He will never stop fighting for you. He takes every assault on you personally. He goes before you onto every battlefield. He fights for you even when you're fighting yourself. As hated as you are by Satan, you never go head-to-head with him. Jesus does. And Jesus never loses a fight.
"The LORD is a warrior" (Ex. 15:3). And "He is our peace" (Eph. 2:14).
Amen!!! Thank you Lord Jesus!!!
I needed that encouragement today.
