Makeover

My husband and I have been considering doing a kitchen makeover, so we called about estimates and went to a large retailer in such items as cabinets, flooring, and counter tops. After listing our wishes, the sales associate quickly made finishing touches to her computer layout of our "new" kitchen. It looked terrific! So I asked, "What do you estimate the cost would be at this point?" She noted a hefty amount and I couldn't even bring myself to glance over at my husband. We thanked her and walked out of the store in silence. When we got home and walked into our kitchen, I said, "This looks pretty good to me!" My husband laughed knowingly. We both knew that was not a price we were willing to pay.
As Christians, God has done a "makeover" in our lives, and the cost to us was priceless, yet at the sometime free. Jesus Christ paid the price through leaving heaven, becoming a flesh and blood man, living in rejection, homelessness, and eventually being tortured and hung on a cross. History, even non-Christian history, speaks of the one many called a prophet, but we know as God's Son in the flesh coming to makeover the world, one sinful human at a time.
One day there will be a world makeover that will mean the end of this world as we know it and a new beginning in a world ruled and reigned by God. The devil and his henchmen will no longer ride shot over the policies and people about us. We can safely walk in the streets lined with gold, as it will be as common as today's asphalt. Gems and stones will line the walls and the gates will be made of pearls.
After hearing the price of our own kitchen makeover, you'd of thought our cabinets were made of gems and precious metals! But one day, all of this we think we possess will burn, vaporize in a flash and all that will be left will be the souls of the ones who chose Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord as well as the acts they performed to glorify His Name.
What will be left of you that day? We have only one legacy to leave, that which we have done to guide the lost into a relationship with Christ Jesus and caring for others with the love of Christ as our only motive. May my next makeover be one of eternal value that makes my old fleshly body, new!
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

  1. Like. Our lives are but a vapor. None of this stuff that we work so hard to acquire, worry about, none of it matters. All that matters is where or not we finish the race and hear the Lord say, well done, my good and faithful servant.

  2. May I remember that all of this stuff doesn't matter. This is not our home.
