Guard Your Heart

     I Corinthians 13:4-7 tells us what true love looks like, this should be our model to strive for and act out upon others:
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
     Sin in our world is becoming more evident each day. It's more apparent due to the media showing us all the grim footage of evil acts, but also in our growing hardness toward it. Our hearts are thickening each time we view evil and listen to its lies, even as Christians. The Bible tells us to protect our hearts and this is the reason why. We must stay soft and pliable in our Lord's hands, so we can be molded and formed daily for the work He needs us to do.

Proverbs 4:23-27

23 Above all else, guard your heart,
    for everything you do flows from it.
24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;
    keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead;
    fix your gaze directly before you.
26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet
    and be steadfast in all your ways.
27 Do not turn to the right or the left;
    keep your foot from evil.
