Sojourner

In a recent Bible study I attended the speaker, Britta LaFont, spoke to the idea that we are all sojourners on this big blue sphere called Earth. Today is Earth Day, a day to celebrate the Earth, remembering the need to be good stewards of the resources that God has provided for us on this terra firma. But as Christians, we know the place we plant our feet is temporary. Thus we are sojourners, temporary residents of this place, seeking to one day find our way back home.
The Bible tells us the way to our heavenly home. Although some say the path is broad, we know it is narrow and only a few will find it. I pray today, that as you read these words of a simple human traveler, who knows how to get lost (both literally and figuratively), you will also know how to be found. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. He tells us that the way to heaven is narrow. He said that "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!" He also tells us we are all lost, all sinners, with nothing of our own to give to the  Great God of this earth and universe. But He sacrificially gave it all through His death on the cross and His resurrection to life, overcoming the death that began with the first act of disobedience and the first sin in the Garden of Eden.
Simply believe in Jesus Christ, call out to Him in your pain and ask Him to save your soul and be your Savior and King. Then when this earth passes away, and it will the Bible tells us, you and I will be joined up together in the clouds with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and the One who holds the earth in the palm of His Hand.
John 14:6 (NLT)
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

Matthew 7:13-14 (NLT)
"You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose the way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it."

Matthew 19:24 (NLT)
I'll say it again--it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!"

Romans 3:22-24 (NIV)
There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

  1. “Difficult” is from the Greek word thlibo, which means: “To press (as grapes), press hard upon; a compressed way; narrow straitened, contracted” (New Testament Greek Lexicon, www.bibletstudytools.com).
