Political Chaos
I'm saddened to see the options we have for U.S. President in the upcoming election. Rather than sit by and "sigh," I'm going to ask anyone who is "listening" to think of other options. God is a God of order, not chaos. The ads and rhetoric that has been flooding our airways, frankly, are sewing discord. The gossip and name calling is not what we should accept as "our only option." God is bigger than our political system and if God is for either of these current candidates then they will be put into office, but if He's just waiting, as in the time of the kings of the old testament, for us to choose Him over a wo/man to be in charge of our world, country, and government, then it's time that we pray that He intervene.
I obviously cannot speak for God, but I would like to offer another option, Former U.S. Secretary Condoleezza Rice, would make a better choice for U.S. President in "such a time as this." (Esther 4:14) What about a grassroots movement to put her into office as she is highly knowledgeable of the policies that are needed in our current political and social environment? Will she be perfect, no, but is anyone except God perfect? Of course, the answer is "no," so will we stand idly by and complain about the current people running for office or will we step up and say, "enough" we need to hear about the issues that are relevant to the position of U.S. President.
No more "mud slinging" tell us what you will do to cut the over spending in government and the lack of follow through for our veterans and current military personnel. What will this candidate truly do to fix our ailing education system that is burdened with red tape and policies that are tying the hands of teachers to offer interesting and creative teaching in classrooms across our country? What will the candidate do for our homeless, hungry, and hopeless families, elderly, and youth? What will the candidate do for cities in our great nation that have become slums, crime ridden, and uninhabitable, while other neighborhoods are clean, healthy, and thriving?
Frankly, I don't want to know the nitty-gritty details of these candidates personal lives. I want to know what they'll do in their working lives! Most of us don't know the skeletons in the closets of our colleagues nor do we want to, we want to know if they are knowledgeable about the work at hand, productive in getting the work done, and timely with the deadlines and commitments that they make to us. We need a U.S. President that is hard working, fair, ethical, and responsive to the needs of our nation, not just their favorite interest groups. I believe Condoleezza Rice might be such a person. I'm praying for God's intervention and direction in this November's election for U.S. President. Please join me in this prayer.
