Two are Better than One

There have been several stories lately of a lone person being helped, even saved from death, by another person. By ourselves, we are often overcome from either physical or emotional distress, but if another person can come along side us, we often recover. I wondered, Was doing my part to be the friend that helps another up?
I read the following in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 this morning:
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:
10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not  quickly broken.
The old saying goes something like this, "To have a friend, you must be a friend." I've heard people complain about no one being willing to help them or visit them, but when I asked these people whether they had called or visited their friends or family members, they had not. The scripture tells us in John 16:24, "Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete." If you are friendless or lonely, ask Jesus Christ to come into your life, forgive you of your sins, and be your friend, Savior, and Lord. A relationship with Jesus Christ will allow you to ask "for anything in [His] name" and He will be the third strand in your strong cord of life. Then, the next time you get to "the end of your rope," you can call on Jesus Christ and He will hear you and pull you to safety.
Brothers helping brothers.
