School Shootings
After last week's school shooting, we are left with so many questions and even more "What ifs..." But the truth is evil has been with us from the beginning of time. Our pastor made a great point today saying something to the effect that if we teach children that they evolved from "goo" and they are not God's created beings who are to seek to be aligned with the characteristics of Jesus Christ, how do we expect them to live? If we are simply an accident that crawled out of the dirt, what purpose do we have in life? Why would they have any moral standard or respect for life?
There is a standard by which we are to live our lives. Jesus Christ is our model of how to act, react, and respect His Father, God and others. The Holy Bible is God's inspired word to human beings. Let us pray together for these hurting families and victims of this senseless massacre and be obedient to do our part as the Holy Spirit speaks in to our minds, souls and spirits.
Habakkuk 1:1-5(NIV)
1 The prophecy that Habakkuk the prophet received.
[Habakkuk's complaint]2 How long, Lord, must I call for help,
but you do not listen?
Or cry out to you, “Violence!”
but you do not save?
3 Why do you make me look at injustice?
Why do you tolerate wrongdoing?
Destruction and violence are before me;
there is strife, and conflict abounds.
4 Therefore the law is paralyzed,
and justice never prevails.
The wicked hem in the righteous,
so that justice is perverted.
[God's reply]5 “Look at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told..."

Lord, please take Your peace and salvation to the families of those injured, exposed to, or killed in last week’s school shootings. May those students who are injured or fearful after this shooting be called to You by Your Holy Spirit, not to vengeance which is of the devil. Lord, please keep these families and victims from falling in to the depths of despair, but rather be lifted up by the prayers and actions of the faithful. May You God be glorified in this event, even though the devil would want to usurp Your glory by causing fear, intimidation, division, and destruction. Thank you for hearing our prayers God. Amen.
