A Father's Day Blessing through His Son

In honor of Father's Day, I did a Bible search using www.biblegateway.com for the word "father." What was interesting was that in the Old Testament (O.T.) there were many examples of famous fathers and guidelines for the behaviors of all fathers. Only toward the very end of the Old Testament, King David and the Prophet Isaiah began to refer to the Lord, as their Father.
The New Testament (N.T.) starts right out in Matthew referring to God as Father and later as the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many of the fathers of the Old Testament were flawed and even "evil" as noted in 2 Kings 24:9. Whereas the Father of the New Testament is one who shows us mercy by sending His Son, Jesus Christ as a living sacrifice for the sins of the world.
The fathers living under the laws of the O.T. could not offer their children enough grace to give them eternal life. In their flesh, they sinned too, regardless of the O.T. Laws. But knowing His children's fragile beings, God, in the New Testament, provided a way for all of us to be in relationship with Him again even after Adam and Eve's rejection of God's commands in the Garden of Eden.
Even if your worldly father is flawed, distant, abusive, or absent, you have a Father in heaven who is for you and not against you, who wants you to call on His name and be forgiven and shielded by His power and might. You will never be abandoned again, but instead you will spend eternity with Father God simply by asking His Son, Jesus Christ, to come into your life and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior; forgive you of your sins; and make you a new creature in Him. Then, find a Bible believing church and study the Father's love letter to you in the Holy Bible. You are loved. God Himself loves you!

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth.

No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.

“‘Each of you must respect your mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the Lord your God.

“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father had done.

The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

1 Peter 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
