Twisted Hose
My husband complains that no matter where he is in the yard, the water hose will insist on getting caught on something. Then he has to stop what he's doing retrace his steps, untangle the hose, and go back to his yard work. I watched as he was watering our lush banana plant and the hose was already a jumble of plastic coils, yet the water flowed effortlessly through it.
The flexible conduit that allowed the water to stream through my husband's garden hose was nearly 30 feet long and a maze of rubber, yet the water was not deterred from reaching its destination. Now sometimes a crimp can occur in the hose, when it gets particularly pinched in a tight space or drastically turned in the wrong direction, then little or no water can pass through the hose.
My musings on the hose made me think of life. As Christians, when we accept Jesus Christ (the living water) as our Lord and Savior, He sends the Holy Spirit to enter us and guide and comfort us the rest of our days here on Earth. Even though our lives may go here and there, backwards and forward, and even get tangled up on occasion, the Holy Spirit can flow through us, if we do not "crimp" His style by persisting in sinful pathways.
Wherever we go Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-the Trinity-are with believers, but sometimes we get caught up in situations that entangle us and deter us from reaching our God-given destinations. At times like these we need to call on Jesus Christ and tell Him we have gotten pinched into a tight space and we need to drastically get turned around and He will intervene and get us going in the right direction.
If you are stuck in sin today, call on God to get you untangled. Regardless of the jumbled mess you have made of your life, He can unravel your poorly thought out steps, and send the Living Water through you and refresh your tired soul. Call, He's waiting; He will not be deterred in reaching you, no matter how twisted up in sin you have become. It's a choice you'll never regret.
It's been a 30 year journey for me, and believe me I have gotten my "hose" crimped a number of times. But the Master Gardener has always been faithful to unwind my wayward decisions and put me back on the right path again. It's my choice whether I want to stay on the right path, but even when I don't, if I humble myself and call out to Him, He reaches down with grace and mercy and untangles me from whatever I have gotten caught up in...again. Thank you Lord!
