Wrong Number?

I was trying to text a picture of the boys' dad to them, but one text came back and said, "I don't have you in my contacts." At first, I thought one of my husband's sons was just messing with me. So in a return text, I asked if it was him. No response. Later in the day, I texted who I was and heard from one of my stepson's x-girlfriends. Strange, I thought, how did my text go to her?
After checking with my son's current girlfriend about his phone number, I realized I had the correct number. I checked back with his X and asked for her number. It was not in my contacts anywhere! But as I told her, the weirdest part of all, was that the day before this "wrong number" text, I came across a journal entry where I express a lament that I hadn't gotten to know her better. Also in the note, I prayed that she would come to know Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord.
Thinking about the timing of all these "coincidences," I decided to text her about finding the note, just the day before, and my prayer for her salvation. (We have not talked in over 7 years.) She texted back her phone number and said, "...that is very sweet of you to think of me."
Only God knows why I texted this wrong number, but it may just have been so this woman knew that others were thinking of her and wishing her well. How many times have I thought about contacting someone, but then didn't? How many times have I wished someone would contact me, but they didn't? Whether it's in time of need or just loneliness, knowing others are thinking about you and praying for you can really fill your soul with hope.
Romans 15:13 (NIV)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  1. This definable was a Devine intervention. I pray for the stranger that will enter her life and water the seed you had shown by being obedient to the Lord's calling.
