Due to COVID...
I wonder if any of you have heard the term lately, "due to COVID"? "Due to COVID," you must wear a mask, stay six feet apart, cough in your elbow, travel one way in grocery stores, cancel family gatherings of more than ten, and wash your hands all day long while singing the Alphabet song.
Today, I took my dad to the hospital for a hip replacement. My dad is neither a young man nor thin, both of which are real concerns regarding contracting Coronavirus. He also has a pacemaker and a fairly new heart valve which also contribute to his being in the "compromised" category.
At the hospital, I heard several times, "due to COVID" everyone must use hand sanitizer before entering the hospital, there is a limit of one visitor per patient, no one can visit the patient after surgery, and you must distance yourselves from others. After I dropped my dad and mom off at the Emergency Entrance (the only door open), parked a block away, and returned to Emergency, the COVID attendants (who took visitors temperatures and required hand sanitizer) would not let me enter the hospital. I needed to aide my parents who are elderly, hard of hearing, and do not remember the doctor's instructions. My mom doesn't own a cell phone, so she and dad had no idea what had happened to me and one of the two men mearly noted, "We are just following hospital policy."
I remember when computers first became an integral part of commerce, (yeah, I'm that old), and the cashiers would blame any number of problems on "the computers." As a customer, you had to take it or leave it, if "the computer" said it. I feel like this "due to COVID" phrase is being used in a similar way, as if no common sense can be applied to situations now since "we are following CDC requirements" and all other options have suddenly vanished.
The Bible states in James 4:12, "There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you--who are you to judge your neighbor?" What if "due to God," we followed the scriptures/the Word of God/the Holy Bible or whatever you call God's love letter to us? What if we abided by God's commands for us and His guidelines for a healthy and useful life? What if, "due to God," we loved others as ourselves (Matthew 22:39), regardless of computer glitches or COVID criteria? What if, "due to God," we did to others as we would like done to ourselves (Matthew 7:12)?

John 15:10
If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love.
Wow!!! I just love this. Being right there with you, I fondly remember the computer blame game. Since I worked at the bank, I loved using that line because it got me out of fixing the problem right at the end of the day! Lol. No computer virus or human virus should stop us from loving each other, or obeying God.
