Trust Me

When someone says to me, "Trust me," I automatically become skeptical. Why? Probably due to the old axiom, "Actions speak louder than words." You know the person who keeps offering promises, but never seems to take the next step and follow through on them.

I have a little card on my desk that states, "Hello. This is God. I will be handling all of your problems and concerns today. That's my job. Your job is to give them to me, and then to trust me." The card ends with Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." So, when God asks you to trust Him, do you?

If you break down that scripture, God does ask us to act on His promise, let's see what our steps should be: Do not be anxious about anything; In everything pray to and petition God with thanksgiving; and Present [all] your requests to God. We are to go all in, right? We are to take any and everything to God in prayer and thank Him. Those are the steps we must take to be in alignment with God's promises for us.

Seems simple enough, but...how many times do I pray and then go on my way. I go out anxious and ungrateful or complaining as soon as I finish my daily devotional. I can't be the only one who can't make it through a day without murmuring about something, but...is that the will of God for me...for you?

Here's what I Thessalonians 5:16-18 says is the will of God for you (and me), "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Pretty clear message, so give everything to God and trust Him to do what is best in all situations and circumstances. Then don't forget to say, "Thank you!"

I Thessalonians 5:28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
